So, just for shits and giggles, I decided to release a recording I did as an official-ish single that’s a free download. I put it under the name, “The Interrogations”.

The first track is an original song called “On A Whim” and the second song is an older recording which I remixed a bit called “Scholasltic Aptitude” which is a cover of a song originally by The Urinals.

I guess this single would be classified as shoegaze or dream pop, but the project might change direction depending on what mood I’m in.

Please remove this video.

Sure, it has a nice message of “we should all look out of each other!” but it’s done in a horrible, pseudo-scientific way which is not helping critical thinking.

The Occupy Movement and the Arab Spring are nothing new. Why wouldn’t The French Revolution be considered a paradigm shift in humanity’s consciousness? Oh, because it didn’t line up with the end of the 13th baktun, right?

Okay, everyone… I find it REALLY hard to get into The Beach Boys. I’m sorry, but I can’t do it.

They were fantastic at vocal harmonies, yes, but I don’t actually like how their voices sound. It annoys me. Also, they were unsettling, and not in a good way. Their stuff always came off to me as insincere.

THAT BEING SAID:

I do admire them strongly and I find Brian Wilson to be fascinating, even if I don’t listen to their songs regularly. Their songs aren’t technically bad, either. And I acknowledge that they’ve influenced many musicians I love as well.

Take, for example, this cover of Never Learn Not To Love You by The Telescopes. I love it. More than the original, actually.

The Telescopes, Jesus & Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, Cornelius and many others were influenced by The Beach Boys and their production techniques, so for that, I thank them.

However, the original song of this was actually Dennis Wilson’s rip-off of a Charles Manson song. Do you see what I mean by insincere?

God Bless The Red Krayola And All Who Sail With It is one of my favourite albums for reasons that are really hard to explain. At the risk of sounding ostentatious, it’s like trying to make sense of a baffling dream. It’s also unapologetically free and very spontaneous feeling. I’d almost say it’s more daring and just as forward thinking as what The Velvet Underground were doing at the time.
